Yet another fabulous festival event called for our attention last weekend: BD-FIL Festival International de Lausanne. The fifth edition of this festival was for the first time centred round the place de Riponne, just beneath the cathedral. The exhibitons varied form rather small to quite magnificent, the greatest and most elaborately built one was of Geneva artist Frederik Peeters, the festival’s special guest. The exhibition about pop-up books was definitely something one rarely gets to see. It was amazing to realize just how long these have been around and how intricate some of them are. And for all those who couldn’t make it to Fantoche in Baden, Alex Baladi showed a small version of his exhibition with Géraldine once again playing her magnificent piano on Saturday evening!

The other exhibition showed paintings by Noyau, 80 artists celebrating the anniversary of Spirou, 14 artists making art on and about matchboxes and of course the competition exhibition (open air! Luckily it didn’t rain).

Voller Vorfreude stürzten wir uns ins diesjährige Fantoche Internationales Festival für Animationsfilm. Ein wunderbares Programm mit vielen Highlights machte es uns schwer, uns für einzelne Programmpunkte zu entscheiden.

Nach einem feinen Mittagsimbiss in der gemütlich-modernen Festivalbeiz entschlossen wir Internationaler Wettbewerb 4 anzusehen. Bevor wir ins Kino bummelten, machten wir noch einen kurzen Abstecher in die Ausstellung von Peter Fischer-Projektionsmaschinen. Auf Knopfdruck zeigten sich wunderbare Welten und Bilder. Einfach faszinierend schön!

Im Kino angekommen, genossen wir 81 Minuten Film von talentierten Wettbewerbsteilnehmern aus aller Welt. Die 8 Filme boten Action & Gefühle, stimmten nachdenklich und zauberten immer wieder ein Lächeln auf’s Gesicht.

Nach einer Süssen-Stärkung besuchten wir als krönenden Abschluss die Ausstellung von Alex Baladi. Diese zeigte originell umgesetzt die Entstehung des Films. Die Vernissage wurde dann feucht-fröhlich begossen mit dem Original Piano aus dem Film “Frankenstein encore”. Eine “Erfindung”, die man live erleben muss. Cin Cin!

We were eagerly looking forward to this year’s Fantoche International Festival of Animation. A great program full of highlights made it rather difficult to decide what to go see.

After a yummy lunch at the modern but comfy and brand new restaurant “Spedition” right in the festival centre we decided to watch the competition program no4. Before we went to the cinema we dropped in to see the exhibition of Swiss artist Peter Fischer. His projection - machines were wonderfully surprisinig. Each button we pressed proved the artist’s fascinating technical ingenuity and imagination. Magical!

At the cinema we enjoyed 8 short animated films by talented directors who competed in the competition, 81 minutes of action and emotion, plenty things to think about and laugh about.

After short sweet snack we attended the highlight of the day: the exhibition opening and screening of Alex Baladi’s “Frankenstein encore”. The exhibition gathered in a fun and exciting way all the bits of Baladi’s first film (together with Isabelle Nouzha), scenery, paintings, script pages, objects and his fabulous pop-up books. The greatest attraction however was the original piano that featured in the film: each cocktail had its own melody - a magnificent invention! Three Cheers!

Fumetto is presenting the Swiss artist Alex Baladi at the animation-film-festival Fantoche in Baden. Baladi is preparing the show about “Frankenstein encore,” his first moyen-métrage created and designed in collaboration with Isabelle Nouzha. In addition to the film he will be showing an exhibition about the making of with original drawings, storyboards, scenery, and of course the movie will be shown daily in the exhibition.

We are happy to show you some pictures of the creation of the exhibition. Together with Alex Baladi, we were busy and created the wonderfully creepy-exhibition “Frankenstein encore”.

Fumetto präsentiert den Schweizer Künstler Alex Baladi am Animations- filmfestival Fantoche in Baden. Baladi hat mit „Frankenstein encore“ seine erste moyen-métrage geschaffen und gestaltet zusammen mit Fumetto eine Ausstellung rund um die Entstehung des Films, mit Originalzeichnungen, Storyboards, Kulissen und natürlich wird der Film täglich in der Ausstellung gezeigt.

Hier zeigen wir euch einige Bilder vom Aufbau der Ausstellung. Zusammen mit Alex Baladi waren wir fleissig und kreierten eine wunderbar-gruslige Ausstellung zu “Frankenstein encore”.

Ogden Whitney was long forgotten until Dan Nadel brought him out of the dark with his book “Art Out Of Time”. Shortly after Ogden Whitney’s work was published at Dark Horse Press it won an Eisner!

Am 4. Juli 09 war’s wieder so weit. Auch dieses Jahr trat Fumetto an - zum ultimativen kick’n'rush.

Selbstverständlich mit dem Ziel, unzählige Tore zu schiessen und den Gegnern gekonnt um die Ohren zu flizzen. Na ja, der gute Vorsatz und Wille war da, doch müssen wir unsere Sieger-Ambitionen auf’s nächste Jahr verschieben. Damit’s klappt, starten wir doch bereits jetzt mit unserem intensiven Fussball-Training oder was weniger Schweissperlen verursacht: wir kaufen ein - das liegt ja im Trend =).

Auf ein Neues 2010, wir freuen uns darauf & und mit lieben Dank an unser Fumetto-Fussball-Trupp.
